I shot this video using iPhones with my friend Pete Willenbrock who shot the drone footage. My son Jonathan Ruch arranged this song and recorded all of the instruments as well as singing with his friend and fellow worship leader Audrey DelCampo. We collaborated on the settings and visual concepts and I produced and edited the video.
A performance series I create for The Fret Life, the guitar lifestyle brand I founded. I perform, record, light, shoot, and edit every session, and design the thumbnails and branding for the channel.
A multi-track acoustic arrangement: two original guitar parts, a third carrying the melody, and a solo on top. I lit the space for a warm, intimate mood, then recorded, shot, and edited each layer into a single cohesive performance.
A fingerstyle performance in open E, shot outdoors in natural light. I framed it around tight detail on the hands and fretboard against an open sky to let the song's gentle, reflective quality carry the visuals.
A layered multi-track arrangement built on a steady acoustic foundation, with harmonies, lead lines, and slide guitar. I arranged, performed, recorded, lit, shot, and edited every track.
I launched the virtual worship program in March 2020 when the pandemic kept people from worshiping in person. I mentored and trained staff to light, block, shoot, build graphics, and deliver quality audio for weekly productions. We delivered weekly services on Facebook and YouTube, including more than 75 music videos and 5 location shoots.
During the early stages of the lockdown, we brought each musician and singer in to record one at a time. We shot a multi camera session and recorded their performance to a click track. We put all of the audio and video together and created a finished package that visually brought everyone together.
As the social distancing restrictions began to ease, we were able to bring a small band together wearing masks and staying over 6 feet apart. This changed the process. We recorded each instrument to a separate track to mix after the recording. We added new cameras and lighting and shot with a behind the scenes live feel.
